About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical systems for robotic arms, end-effectors, and automated machinery using advanced CAD software .
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis, including stress, strain, and dynamic load calculations, to ensure system robustness and reliability.
• Create precise manufacturing drawings, tolerance analyses, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and controls specialists in a hybrid work setting.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing, troubleshooting issues and implementing design refinements for robotic systems .
• Research and integrate new technologies, materials, and components to enhance robotic performance and capabilities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; PhD is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on robotics and automation .
• Proven expertise in designing complex kinematic mechanisms and motion control systems.
• Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAE tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, ANSYS) and a strong understanding of mechatronic principles.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, and control systems in automated environments.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for collaboration in Sheffield and remotely.
