Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Leicester . This pivotal role involves leading the design and development of complex mechanical systems from concept through to production. You will be instrumental in driving technological advancements and ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in CAD, FEA, and a proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects, contributing to a dynamic environment that fosters creativity and technical problem-solving within the Mechanical Engineering sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical components and systems using advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Perform rigorous Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate designs and predict performance.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including detailed drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and test reports.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on design best practices, problem-solving techniques, and project execution.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation phases, ensuring designs meet all performance and quality specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting , with a strong understanding of GD&T principles.
• Demonstrated experience with FEA and/or CFD tools for design validation.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in a collaborative team setting.
