Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their remote engineering team, contributing to innovative product development. This role involves the conceptualisation, design, and detailed engineering of mechanical systems and components for a variety of industrial applications. You will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and project management teams, utilising advanced CAD software and simulation tools to bring designs from concept to production. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design process from concept through to detailed production drawings and specifications.
• Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs.
• Select appropriate materials and components, ensuring design meets performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and software developers, to ensure integrated system design.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design draftsmen.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and 2D drafting, with experience in FEA and CFD simulations.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and component selection.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a remote team environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
