Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team in the vibrant city of Southampton . This role is crucial for taking ownership of the design and development of innovative mechanical products. You will be responsible for translating conceptual ideas into detailed engineering designs, ensuring they are robust, reliable, and manufacturable. Working within a collaborative environment, you will contribute to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in Mechanical Engineering , tackling challenging projects that require a blend of creativity and technical precision.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical components and systems using advanced CAD software , adhering to strict engineering standards.
• Perform structural analysis and simulations (FEA) to ensure designs meet performance and safety requirements.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for cost-effective production and assembly in Southampton .
• Conduct design reviews, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to ensure project success.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and associated drawing creation.
• Solid understanding of FEA principles and experience using simulation software.
• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, injection molding, and fabrication.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project challenges.
