Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Brighton . This role requires extensive experience in leading the design and development of complex mechanical systems from concept through to production. You will play a key role in driving engineering projects forward, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring technical excellence. This position offers a flexible hybrid working model, allowing for a balance between collaborative office work and remote flexibility, supporting projects in East Sussex .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical assemblies and systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Utilize advanced CAD tools for 3D modeling, complex surfacing, and creating detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Perform sophisticated engineering analysis, including FEA and thermal analysis , to validate and optimize designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, in a hybrid setup.
• Oversee prototype builds, testing procedures, and experimental validation, documenting findings thoroughly.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Brighton team.

  Requirements
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Expertise in industry-leading CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA principles.
• Proven ability to manage projects and work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills for collaboration in East Sussex .
