Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established team in Bradford . This role is critical for developing and refining mechanical designs that form the core of our client's innovative product offerings. You will apply your extensive knowledge of mechanical principles and design software to create robust, efficient, and manufacturable solutions. Working within a dedicated on-site team, you will contribute significantly to project success, from initial concept through to detailed design and production handover, ensuring excellence at every stage of the engineering process.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products.
• Utilize advanced CAD software to create precise 3D models, 2D drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations, including FEA, to analyze stress, strain, thermal performance, and vibration characteristics of designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production, considering DFM and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and execute design validation plans, including prototype testing and performance verification.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians within the Bradford facility.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD packages , and experience with FEA analysis tools.
• In-depth understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding), and GD&T.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and strong analytical skills are essential for this role.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
