Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, from initial concept through to detailed production drawings.
• Utilise 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) to create precise models, drawings, and schematics.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations, including stress analysis and thermal analysis, to validate design integrity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production processes and cost efficiency.
• Specify materials, finishes, and components, and manage the Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Contribute to the testing and validation of prototypes and production units, documenting results and implementing improvements.

Requirements

• BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a product development environment.
• Proficiency with CAD software and a good understanding of FEA principles.
• Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques (e.g., CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.
