Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Aberdeen . This role is crucial for developing innovative and reliable mechanical systems from concept through to production. You will be instrumental in leading design projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring that all designs meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative environment, contributing to cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of mechanical engineering and drive the company's success in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical components and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Perform detailed stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs under various operating conditions.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including 3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, manufacturing specialists, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct design reviews, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success and product quality.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering technology and industry best practices to foster continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a proven track record in the oil and gas industry or a similar demanding sector.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and FEA/CFD tools.
• Strong understanding of material science, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles .
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience leading technical discussions.
