Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in subsea technology, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Aberdeen . This pivotal role involves contributing to the full lifecycle of complex mechanical systems, from conceptualization through to production and testing. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of new products and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Conduct detailed FEA (Finite Element Analysis ) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to validate designs and optimize performance.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOMs (Bills of Materials).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineering staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during prototype development and testing phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in mechanical design, with a focus on complex systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and PDM systems.
• Proven experience with structural analysis, stress testing, and material selection.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
