About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Reading . You will be responsible for leading design efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the successful development of complex mechanical systems from concept through to production. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of advanced mechanical systems and components using sophisticated CAD tools.
- Perform complex engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, using FEA software.
- Develop and manage detailed design documentation, including technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., electronics, software, manufacturing) to ensure integrated product development.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering skill development within the team.
- Oversee prototype testing and validation, troubleshooting issues and driving design refinements.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in mechanical design and product development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Expertise in advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks Premium, CATIA) and FEA analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Proven ability to lead design projects and mentor engineering teams.
- Excellent understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA principles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a hybrid work model in Reading .
