Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering division in Edinburgh . This role involves taking the lead on the design and development of complex mechanical systems, from initial concept through to production. You will be responsible for driving design excellence, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with global teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of successful design projects and a passion for innovation, contributing to a culture of technical excellence in Scotland's capital.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of intricate mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software .
• Perform detailed engineering analysis , including structural, thermal, and vibration simulations.
• Create comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including drawings, tolerances, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management teams to ensure design feasibility and project success.
• Mentor and guide junior design engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.
• Investigate and resolve complex design challenges encountered during development and production.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on product development.
• Expertise in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and FEA tools .
• In-depth knowledge of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques.
• Proven ability to lead design initiatives and manage technical tasks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
