About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative product development team in Derby , operating under a hybrid work model. This role is central to the conceptualization, design, and development of new mechanical systems and components. You will be responsible for translating requirements into detailed engineering designs, performing complex analyses, and ensuring the manufacturability and reliability of our products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, CAD software proficiency, and a passion for creating cutting-edge designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other engineering calculations to validate designs.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and R&D teams to ensure design feasibility and product quality.
- Prototype, test, and iterate on designs to meet performance and cost targets.
- Contribute to technical reviews and provide mentorship to junior design engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software and experience with FEA/CFD analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Experience working within a hybrid work environment.
