Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will play a crucial role in the conceptualization, design, and development of cutting-edge mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of engineering principles, be proficient in CAD software, and have a proven track record of delivering complex projects successfully. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and project management, to bring new products and technologies to life, contributing significantly to the company's growth and technological advancement in a supportive, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components from concept to production, utilizing CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Conduct thorough stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to ensure design integrity and performance.
• Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production processes and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design technicians.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in mechanical design and engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a remote work setting .
