Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly competent Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth . This role is vital for developing and refining mechanical designs for a range of innovative products. You will be instrumental in translating complex requirements into practical, high-quality engineering solutions, working within a collaborative and dynamic environment. The position requires a proactive engineer with strong technical skills and the ability to contribute significantly to project success through a blend of on-site and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, ensuring optimal performance and manufacturability.
• Utilise advanced CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Conduct thorough stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate design integrity.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful product realization.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Expertise in using 3D CAD modeling and analysis software.
• Deep understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a must.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
