About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Leicester . This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex design projects from conception through to production, working with cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions. You will be instrumental in shaping the mechanical aspects of new product development, ensuring designs meet stringent performance, cost, and quality targets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of engineering principles and a proven track record of delivering successful mechanical designs within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components using CAD software.
Conduct stress analysis , thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to ensure seamless integration.
Generate detailed technical drawings , Bills of Materials (BOMs), and design documentation.
Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation phases of product development.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex design challenges.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD).
Strong knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes, and GD&T .
Demonstrated experience in leading engineering projects and problem-solving complex technical issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
