Senior Mechanical Engineer - Automotive

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive mechanical components and systems using advanced CAD software .
• Perform detailed engineering analysis, including FEA , thermal, and durability testing, to validate designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing engineers on automotive projects.
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, and validation, identifying and resolving design issues effectively.
• Ensure designs comply with automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO, SAE) and customer specifications.
• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) improvements for automotive components manufactured near Nottingham .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSA, HyperWorks).
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with automotive testing procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for collaborating within the Nottingham automotive cluster.
