Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in HVAC systems to join their team based in Bristol . This critical role involves the design, specification, and project management of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial buildings. You will lead projects, provide technical expertise, and ensure that all designs meet high standards of energy efficiency, performance, and regulatory compliance. This is an on-site position offering the opportunity to work on large-scale, impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for various building types, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection for heating, cooling, and ventilation.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications, drawings, and calculations using industry-standard software.
• Manage HVAC projects from inception to completion, including budget control and contractor coordination.
• Conduct site visits for surveys, inspections, and to provide on-site technical support.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, regulations, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in designing and managing HVAC systems.
• Professional engineer registration (e.g., CEng) or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES VE) and AutoCAD.
• In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics , fluid mechanics, and energy efficiency principles.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
