Senior Mechanical Engineer - Marine Systems Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced marine systems from their base in Southampton . This role is integral to designing, testing, and implementing mechanical solutions for a variety of maritime applications, including propulsion, power generation, and structural components. Key Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and develop mechanical systems and components for marine vessels and offshore platforms.
• Conduct structural analysis, stress testing, and vibration analysis to ensure the integrity and performance of marine equipment under demanding conditions.
• Oversee the integration of mechanical systems, including propulsion, HVAC, and hydraulic systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal function.
• Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to meet project specifications and deadlines in Southampton .
• Prepare technical specifications, manufacturing drawings, and documentation for marine equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during installation, commissioning, and operational phases of marine projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus on marine or offshore systems preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD software and experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of materials suitable for marine environments, corrosion prevention, and relevant industry standards (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV).
