Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Product Design team in Nottingham . This role is integral to the development of innovative consumer and industrial products, from initial concept through to mass production. You will be responsible for designing robust, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing mechanical components and systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products, translating concepts into tangible engineering solutions.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for product components and assemblies using CAD software .
• Perform mechanical analysis, including stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis, to ensure product reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of product designs, identifying and resolving design issues.
• Contribute to the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and concept development through to production support in Nottingham .

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in product design and mechanical engineering , preferably in consumer electronics or durable goods.
• Demonstrated experience in bringing new products from concept to market.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and familiarity with simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, etc.), and rapid prototyping techniques.
