About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly capable and creative Senior Mechanical Engineer with a focus on Product Development to join their thriving engineering department in Glasgow . Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development lifecycle for new mechanical products, from initial concept through to manufacturing readiness.
- Utilize CAD/CAE tools to create detailed designs, perform simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD), and analyze results.
- Develop and execute rigorous testing protocols for prototypes and production units, ensuring they meet performance and reliability targets.
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists to ensure integrated system success.
- Identify and implement innovative design solutions to improve product performance, reduce costs, and enhance user experience.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers within the product development team in Glasgow .
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical product design and development.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and simulation packages.
- Solid understanding of materials selection, manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining), and GD&T.
- Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and projects effectively.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
