About the Role
Our client, a renowned leader in advanced materials and technology, is seeking a proactive Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Research and Development department in Reading . This role is pivotal in driving innovation and exploring novel mechanical solutions for future product generations. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of engineering, conducting in-depth research, developing prototypes, and contributing to the intellectual property portfolio of the company, working in a highly collaborative and scientifically driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research and development activities for new mechanical technologies and product concepts.
- Design, build, and test prototypes and experimental rigs to validate new ideas.
- Conduct advanced engineering analysis , including stress, thermal, and vibration testing.
- Document research findings, develop technical reports, and contribute to patent applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external research partners to advance R&D projects.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and scientific literature relevant to mechanical engineering.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in R&D, focusing on mechanical design and analysis.
- Strong background in theoretical and practical application of mechanics of materials , thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Expertise in FEA software and data acquisition systems.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and solve complex, often undefined, technical challenges.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
