About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Media Relations Officer to join their established communications team based in Reading . This role is central to managing and strengthening the company's relationships with the media, ensuring positive and accurate representation across all platforms. You will be responsible for developing and executing proactive media strategies, responding to media inquiries, and advising senior management on communication matters. The position requires a deep understanding of the UK media landscape and excellent stakeholder management skills, operating from a modern office in Reading .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement proactive media relations strategies to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, productive relationships with key journalists and media outlets.
- Respond promptly and effectively to media inquiries, coordinating interviews and providing information.
- Write and disseminate press releases, statements, and media advisories.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze trends, and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Act as a key point of contact for media during sensitive situations or crisis communications.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in media relations , PR, or journalism.
- Proven success in building and managing relationships with national and regional media.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of current affairs and the media environment in the UK.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
