About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Medicinal Chemist to join their dynamic drug discovery team in Cambridge . This role is critical in designing and synthesizing novel small molecules with therapeutic potential. You will lead optimization efforts for lead compounds, manage synthetic chemistry projects, and collaborate closely with biologists and computational chemists to advance drug candidates. Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel small molecule drug candidates using modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques.
• Optimize lead compounds for potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties.
• Plan and execute multi-step synthesis routes, troubleshoot challenging reactions, and purify compounds.
• Collaborate with computational chemists to leverage structure-based drug design.
• Contribute to project strategy meetings and present research findings to internal teams.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
• Minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in medicinal chemistry.
• Proven track record of successfully contributing to drug discovery projects.
• Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, including route design and execution.
• Strong understanding of structure-activity relationships (SAR) and ADMET properties.
