About the Role
Our client, a prominent pharmaceutical research organization, is looking for a highly accomplished Senior Medicinal Chemist to join their innovative and collaborative remote R&D team. This position is critical for the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel small molecule drug candidates. You will play a key role in identifying and developing new chemical entities with therapeutic potential, working closely with biologists and other scientists to advance projects through the drug discovery pipeline. Key Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize novel small molecules with desired pharmacological profiles.
- Optimize lead compounds through iterative cycles of design, synthesis, and testing.
- Collaborate closely with biologists to evaluate compound efficacy, selectivity, and mechanism of action.
- Utilize structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to guide chemical optimization efforts.
- Develop and troubleshoot synthetic routes, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports, patents, and regulatory documentation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in medicinal chemistry, focusing on small molecule drug discovery.
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, including a wide range of modern synthetic methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in structure-based drug design and SAR development.
- Proficiency in using cheminformatics tools and databases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote research environment.
