About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead their metallurgical operations and research efforts based in Brighton . This senior role will involve overseeing the characterization of ore bodies, optimizing mineral processing and extraction techniques, and ensuring the efficient production of high-quality mineral concentrates. You will play a key role in driving innovation and problem-solving within the metallurgical sphere, working closely with processing engineers and geologists. This is a critical position for an expert in extractive metallurgy aiming to contribute to cutting-edge mining projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize metallurgical processes for various ore types to maximize metal recovery and minimize costs.
- Conduct detailed laboratory and pilot-scale test work to evaluate new processing technologies.
- Analyze metallurgical data, interpret results, and provide recommendations for plant improvements.
- Supervise and mentor junior metallurgists and technicians in the laboratory and on the plant floor.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable metallurgical practices.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate metallurgical considerations into the overall mining strategy.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral processing and metallurgy within the mining industry .
- Expertise in areas such as flotation, hydrometallurgy, and pyrometallurgy.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in metallurgical accounting and reporting.
- Proven ability to lead projects and teams effectively.
