Senior Metallurgist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Metallurgist to join their processing operations near Liverpool . This role is critical for optimizing the recovery of valuable minerals from ore through the design, implementation, and supervision of metallurgical processes. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of mineral processing techniques to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Working closely with plant operators, chemists, and engineers, you will troubleshoot operational issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced metallurgist to make a significant impact on plant performance and profitability in a key industrial area.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize all aspects of the mineral processing plant , including comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining.
• Conduct pilot plant and laboratory test work to evaluate new processes and improve existing ones.
• Develop and implement strategies to maximize metal recovery and concentrate grade.
• Troubleshoot operational problems and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Manage the metallurgical laboratory, ensuring quality control and accurate analysis.
• Mentor junior metallurgists and plant technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in extractive metallurgy , with hands-on experience in plant operations.
• Proven expertise in mineral processing techniques relevant to the company's commodities.
• Strong understanding of process simulation and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Experience in managing laboratory operations and ensuring quality control.
