About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Microbiologist to lead their dedicated research laboratory in Brighton . This pivotal role involves spearheading research into microbial pathogenesis, developing innovative diagnostic methods, and contributing to the discovery of novel antimicrobial strategies. You will oversee laboratory operations, mentor junior staff, and drive key research projects from conception to publication. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct research projects focused on the identification, characterization, and manipulation of microorganisms.
- Develop and validate new microbiological assays and techniques for research and diagnostic purposes.
- Supervise and mentor junior microbiologists and research assistants, ensuring high standards of experimental work.
- Manage laboratory inventory, equipment, and compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Analyze and interpret complex microbial data, utilizing advanced molecular and genomic techniques.
- Author scientific publications, present findings at conferences, and contribute to grant applications.
Requirements
- PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in microbial research.
- Demonstrated expertise in bacterial genetics, microbial physiology, and molecular techniques.
- Experience with advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, and/or next-generation sequencing data analysis is desirable.
- Proven ability to lead research projects and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong publication record.
