About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mine Planner to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is integral to the strategic development and execution of mining operations, focusing on long-term planning, resource optimization, and production scheduling. You will work closely with geological, engineering, and operational teams to create detailed mine plans that ensure efficiency, safety, and profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, extensive knowledge of mine planning software, and a proven ability to translate geological data into actionable operational strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short-term, medium-term, and long-term mine plans.
- Optimize mine designs, including pit limits, road networks, and production sequencing.
- Conduct geotechnical reviews and integrate ground support plans into mine designs.
- Perform resource modeling and reserve estimation validation.
- Collaborate with operations to ensure plans are practical and achievable.
- Monitor plan execution and revise as necessary based on operational performance and geological updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with advanced mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac).
- Strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods and economics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex plans to diverse teams.
