Senior Mine Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Mine Planner to join their operations team in Nottingham . This role is pivotal in developing short, medium, and long-term mine plans that optimize resource extraction, ensure operational efficiency, and meet safety and environmental standards. You will work closely with geology, engineering, and operations departments to create innovative and viable mining schedules and designs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to contribute significantly to the success of mining projects in the East Midlands, utilizing advanced planning tools and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive mine plans, including production schedules, cut plans, and resource utilization.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac) to generate 3D models and layouts.
• Collaborate with geologists to accurately model ore bodies and reserves.
• Work with engineers and operations to ensure plans are technically feasible and efficient.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas or expansions.
• Monitor plan execution and provide revisions as needed based on operational feedback and geological updates.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within mine plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning, with a strong understanding of various mining methods.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software and CAD tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize complex schedules.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Experience in reserve estimation and resource modeling is highly desirable.
