Senior Mining Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Electrical Engineer to join their operations in Sheffield, South Yorkshire . This role is essential for designing, implementing, and maintaining the electrical systems that power our mining equipment and facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of all electrical infrastructure, from power generation and distribution to control systems and instrumentation. Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and oversee the installation of electrical systems for mining machinery, substations, and power distribution networks.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical faults and issues in a timely manner.
• Ensure all electrical installations and modifications comply with national and international safety standards and regulations for the mining industry .
• Manage electrical project budgets and timelines, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, with a substantial portion in the mining or heavy industrial sector .
• Proven experience with high-voltage power systems, motor control, VFDs, and PLCs.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and hazardous area classifications relevant to mining.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in an operational environment.
