Senior Mining Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Geologist to join their exploration and operations team based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK . This role is critical for identifying, evaluating, and developing mineral resources. You will be responsible for planning and executing geological field programs, interpreting complex geological data, and contributing to the overall resource estimation process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural geology and orebody modeling, and will work closely with mine planning engineers to ensure the efficient and safe extraction of valuable resources. Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage geological exploration programs , including drilling, sampling, and mapping.
• Interpret geological data using advanced software to create detailed 3D models of ore bodies.
• Perform resource and reserve estimation according to industry standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Conduct geological risk assessments and provide input on mine design and planning.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, geochemists, and mine engineers to integrate multidisciplinary data.
• Maintain comprehensive geological databases and prepare high-quality technical reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology or a related field with a specialization in economic geology or mine geology.
• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in mining geology , with a focus on resource definition and estimation.
• Proficiency in 3D geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog Geo, Surpac, MinePlan).
• Strong knowledge of structural geology, sedimentology, or igneous petrology relevant to ore deposit formation.
• Demonstrated experience in database management and geological software applications.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex geological concepts clearly.
