About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Senior Music Director to lead the musical direction for their renowned performing arts organization in Plymouth . This vital role involves overseeing all musical aspects of productions, from selection and interpretation to rehearsal and performance. You will work closely with directors, choreographers, and performers to shape the musical narrative and ensure the highest calibre of musical execution. The ideal candidate possesses a deep musical knowledge across genres, exceptional conducting and arranging skills, and the ability to inspire and guide musicians and performers to achieve artistic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead musical interpretation and performance for all theatre productions and concerts.
• Select musical repertoire and work with composers and arrangers as needed.
• Conduct rehearsals and performances, guiding musicians, singers, and dancers.
• Provide musical coaching and direction to performers, enhancing vocal and instrumental quality.
• Collaborate with the artistic director and production teams to align musical vision with overall production goals.
• Manage musical budgets and resources effectively.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Music Director, Conductor, or professional Musician in a theatrical or orchestral setting.
• A strong portfolio showcasing diverse musical leadership roles and achievements.
• Exceptional proficiency in music theory, harmony, and orchestration.
• Experience conducting various ensembles and working with vocalists and actors.
• Strong understanding of different musical genres relevant to performance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
