Senior Network Engineer - Infrastructure Security

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with a specialization in infrastructure security to join their team in Nottingham . This hybrid role requires an individual who can design, implement, and manage secure and robust network infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in protecting the company's network assets, ensuring high availability, and supporting business operations through secure and efficient network solutions. Working within a dedicated IT infrastructure team, you will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the security posture of the organization's network environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, such as VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control policies.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and security issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Develop and enforce network security best practices and standards across the organization.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with other systems and applications.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations, minimizing disruption to services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering with a strong focus on network security.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network services (DNS, DHCP).
• Hands-on experience with network security devices and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
