Senior Network Engineer - Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to enhance their IT infrastructure in Birmingham . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and managing the company's network systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will be responsible for complex network solutions, troubleshooting network issues, and planning for future network growth. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and security best practices, and is adept at leading network projects and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues to ensure high availability.
• Implement and manage network security measures to protect against threats and unauthorized access.
• Develop and execute network upgrade and expansion plans in alignment with business objectives.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network services with other infrastructure components.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices, and mentor junior network staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and firewall management.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
