About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Network Engineer to join their dedicated infrastructure team based in Cardiff . This role is fundamental to the operation and enhancement of our client's extensive telecommunications network. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network systems, ensuring utmost reliability and performance. Working within a collaborative environment, you'll tackle challenging technical problems and contribute directly to the strategic development of the company's telecoms capabilities, playing a key role in delivering seamless connectivity to a wide range of users.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network traffic and performance, identifying and resolving potential issues to maintain optimal service levels.
- Develop and implement network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network services with broader IT systems and applications.
- Perform regular network capacity planning and recommend upgrades or expansions as needed.
- Respond to and resolve network incidents, providing detailed root cause analysis reports.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in network engineering , preferably within the telecoms sector.
- Strong understanding of core networking concepts: TCP/IP, OSI model, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network hardware from major vendors.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Relevant networking certifications such as CCNP or JNCIP are advantageous.
