Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Network Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team in Plymouth . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will be responsible for managing complex network environments, troubleshooting issues, and implementing upgrades to support business growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with various networking protocols and hardware, a proactive approach to network security, and a commitment to delivering robust and efficient network solutions, contributing to a stable and high-performing IT ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure high availability.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control policies.
• Troubleshoot complex network problems and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams and configuration guides.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations to enhance performance and capacity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a related IT infrastructure role.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP , BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or HP.
• Proficiency in network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
