Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their dynamic team in Leicester . This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining the robust network infrastructure that underpins critical telecommunications services. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support evolving business needs and technological advancements. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work from home some days, balanced with essential on-site collaboration and access to our state-of-the-art facilities in Leicestershire .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and problems in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing service disruption.
• Collaborate with security teams to implement and enforce network security policies and best practices.
• Mentor junior network engineers and provide technical guidance on complex network projects.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar senior network role.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other routing and switching protocols.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and network security principles.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
