Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client in Derby is looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and robust security. This role involves hands-on work with routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware, as well as collaboration with various IT departments to support business operations. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize traffic flow and ensure reliability.
• Manage and maintain network security devices, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, providing timely resolution to minimize downtime.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and configuration standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and switching technologies.
• Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and network security best practices.
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools and analysis techniques.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience are highly valued.
