Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their dedicated IT infrastructure team in Sunderland . This pivotal role will involve the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the company's complex network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring network security, performance, and reliability across all sites, playing a critical part in supporting business operations. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, implementing timely and effective solutions.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Ensure network security by implementing and managing security protocols and technologies.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption to services.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support application and system deployments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network security principles and firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
• Experience with WAN technologies and cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
