Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to manage and enhance their critical network infrastructure in Plymouth . This role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex local and wide area networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize traffic flow and ensure high availability.
• Develop and implement network security measures to protect against threats and ensure data integrity.
• Lead network troubleshooting efforts, diagnosing and resolving complex connectivity and performance issues.
• Manage network documentation, diagrams, and inventory, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with vendors and IT teams on network upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security principles.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP).
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
