About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to manage and enhance their critical network infrastructure in Plymouth . This role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex local and wide area networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. You will lead network projects, troubleshoot intricate issues, and collaborate with other IT teams to support the organization's connectivity needs. Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize traffic flow and ensure high availability.
- Develop and implement network security measures to protect against threats and ensure data integrity.
- Lead network troubleshooting efforts, diagnosing and resolving complex connectivity and performance issues.
- Manage network documentation, diagrams, and inventory, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with vendors and IT teams on network upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration.
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security principles.
- Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP).
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
