Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Aberdeen, Scotland . This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the company's robust telecommunications infrastructure. You will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and support of advanced network solutions, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex enterprise network infrastructures , including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and implement proactive solutions to minimize downtime and ensure service level agreements are met.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
• Ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained, protecting against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering , with a proven track record in the telecoms industry.
• Strong proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security principles (VPNs, ACLs).
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and packet analysis software.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
