About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their dedicated IT infrastructure team based in Bristol . This role is essential for designing, implementing, and managing our client's robust and secure network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and security of all network systems, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. This position offers the chance to work with state-of-the-art networking technologies and contribute to critical projects that support the company's operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex network issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with other infrastructure components.
- Stay informed about emerging networking technologies and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and network hardware from leading vendors.
- Proven experience with firewall management and network security principles.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience are highly valued.
