Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Network Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team in Sheffield . This role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's complex network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. You will be responsible for troubleshooting network issues, implementing network upgrades, and collaborating with other IT teams to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and network protocols, with a commitment to maintaining a stable and secure network environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize speed and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and outages in a timely manner.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with system administrators and application teams to ensure seamless network integration.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and TCP/IP.
• Hands-on experience with network security devices and concepts (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Experience with network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience are preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
