About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Network Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team based in Reading . In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our company's network infrastructure, ensuring its security, reliability, and performance. You will work with a team of IT professionals to support a complex network environment, troubleshoot issues, and implement new technologies to meet business needs. This is a prime opportunity for a seasoned network professional to contribute to a growing organization and play a key role in maintaining critical network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor network performance and availability, identifying and resolving network issues proactively.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Develop and manage network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Plan and execute network upgrades and changes, minimizing downtime and impact on business operations.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior network engineers and support staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise network design and management.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or similar.
- Experience with network security principles and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance analysis techniques.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment located in Reading .
