Senior Network Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Engineer to bolster their security posture in Plymouth . This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and managing robust security solutions to protect their extensive telecommunications network infrastructure from evolving threats. You will be instrumental in safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of network operations. This hybrid role combines essential on-site collaboration with the flexibility of remote work, offering a balanced approach to tackling critical security challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain network security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and web application firewalls.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards across the network environment.
• Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement containment and recovery strategies.
• Provide expert guidance on security best practices and emerging threats to the wider IT and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in network security engineering , preferably within a telecommunications context.
• Deep knowledge of security protocols, encryption standards, and threat mitigation techniques.
• Proficiency with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CEH) are highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.
