Senior Support Worker – Nights
Location: Bath and North East Somerset, BA3 Pay Rate: £14.59 per hour PAYE | £18.43 per hour Umbrella Contract: Temporary to Permanent – initially until the end of January 2027 Shift Pattern: Nights, 8:00pm–8:00am Working Pattern: Four-week rolling rota, including some weekends DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS covering the Adult Workforce
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Support Worker to join the night team at a residential home providing care and support for 30 people.
This is a supervisory position in which you will oversee and support the night team, ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate and person-centred care throughout the night. You will lead by example, support colleagues in delivering consistently high standards and help maintain a positive and respectful environment within the home.
We are looking for a dynamic, approachable and motivated individual who can communicate effectively, make informed decisions and inspire confidence within their team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the night team throughout each shift.
- Lead by example and promote high standards of person-centred care and support.
- Allocate duties and ensure tasks are completed safely and effectively.
- Support residents with their individual care needs while maintaining their dignity, independence and choices.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies and changes in residents’ needs.
- Make informed decisions and escalate safeguarding, health or operational concerns where necessary.
- Ensure care plans, daily records, handover notes and incident reports are completed accurately.
- Provide clear and effective handovers to the incoming team.
- Support the safe administration and recording of medication in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing throughout the night and take appropriate action where concerns arise.
- Promote effective communication and collaborative working across the team.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, infection control and confidentiality procedures are followed.
- Help create a calm, supportive and positive environment for residents and colleagues.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the service.
About You
- Previous experience working in a senior care or support role within a residential, social care or similar setting.
- Experience supervising, leading or supporting a team.
- A good understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding adults.
- Able to remain calm and make appropriate decisions during challenging situations.
- Confident completing care records, reports and shift handovers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals.
- Willing and able to work night shifts on a four-week rolling rota, including some weekends.
- An Enhanced DBS covering the Adult Workforce will be required.
