Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Macmillan Cancer Therapy Team in a static position. We will consider a development Band 5-6 role for the right candidate. As a team we cover the Oncology Ward at Dorset County Hospital providing holistic assessment and management to patients with a diagnosis of cancer.
Key Responsibilities
- To work as an integral member of the Macmillan Cancer Therapy Team and wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties and to carry a significant caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations.
- To work at an advanced level and be professionally and legally accountable for a specialised patient caseload, deciding priorities for own work area without direct supervision.
- In conjunction with the Team Lead and clinical specialists, the post holder participates in a rolling programme of education, clinical evaluation, audit and research across the speciality.
- To promote and demonstrate safe, timely and appropriate assessment, treatment and discharge planning for patients with a cancer diagnosis.
- To provide leadership and clinical guidance for junior staff, therapy assistants, students and ward staff.
- To take part in weekend working rota.
