Senior Penetration Tester

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and ethical Senior Penetration Tester to join their dedicated security team based in Edinburgh . In this critical role, you will be responsible for proactively identifying vulnerabilities within the organisation's systems, networks, and applications through rigorous testing. Your expertise will help to strengthen our defences against sophisticated cyber threats, ensuring the integrity and security of our digital assets. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, scope, and execute comprehensive penetration tests on web applications, networks, and systems.
• Identify, exploit, and document security vulnerabilities, providing detailed reports with actionable remediation recommendations.
• Develop and maintain custom scripts and tools to aid in penetration testing activities.
• Stay current with the latest exploitation techniques, attack vectors, and cybersecurity trends .
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to assist in the remediation of discovered vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of the organisation's security testing methodologies and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience specifically in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment.
• Proven experience with common penetration testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap).
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and web application security principles.
• Excellent reporting and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical findings.
• Relevant certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or CISSP are highly desirable.
