Senior Petroleum Geologist

About the Role

Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Petroleum Geologist to bolster their exploration and appraisal efforts in Newcastle upon Tyne . This hybrid role is integral to identifying and evaluating new prospective areas and optimizing existing assets. You will work closely with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to build integrated subsurface models that drive critical investment decisions in the Oil & Gas industry. Your expertise in geological interpretation, basin analysis, and prospect risking will be key to uncovering significant hydrocarbon potential. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic data, well logs, core data, and other geological information to identify and delineate hydrocarbon prospects.
• Develop detailed geological models, including structural and stratigraphic interpretations.
• Conduct regional and basin analysis to understand petroleum systems and identify new play concepts.
• Estimate reserves and resources for new prospects and existing fields.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate geological and seismic interpretations.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to exploration teams and management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology or a related geoscience field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in petroleum exploration geology.
• Proficiency in geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, GeoGraphix).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, and sequence stratigraphy.
• Experience with prospect risking and volumetric analysis.
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
