About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Pharmaceutical Chemist to join their innovative research and development division in Bradford, West Yorkshire . This role focuses on the synthesis and characterization of novel chemical entities for therapeutic applications. You will lead key projects, contribute to synthetic strategy, and collaborate with a diverse team of scientists to accelerate drug discovery. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute synthetic routes for complex organic molecules, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
- Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques (NMR, Mass Spec, HPLC).
- Develop and optimize chemical processes for scale-up and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to support drug discovery programs.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and junior chemists effectively.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety regulations and quality standards.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in synthetic organic chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Extensive experience in designing and performing complex multi-step syntheses.
- Proficiency in modern analytical techniques for compound characterization.
- Strong knowledge of process chemistry and scale-up principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
